Obama’s talk was invitation only–I think roughly ~50 MIT students total (out of ~10,000) got invites, and they were all working on energy related research. The rest of the audience I understand was politicians, their staff, some MIT admin people, media, and “business leaders.” I did see Obama’s motorcade though, that was pretty cool. I’ve been meaning to write a post about his visit, but I think I just said everything there is to say. He did start with a couple of good jokes, among them saying he would be stuck at MIT for a while because some engineering students put his motorcade on top of building 10.
